Ruffian Reef xx is the first English TB stallion for our station. This charming stallion impresses with his good, elastic movement and outstanding temperament and work attitude. After his arrival in Majenfelde, we started to ride him and he has never taken a wrong step - he is soft in his contact, nicely forward and listens well to his rider.

The breeding director of the German Trakehner Verband, Lars Gehrmann, had the following comments about Ruffian Reef xx at the time of his approval: Ruffian Reef is a very impressive sire with an alert and keen expression. Self-confident in his presentation, with very nice movement in all three basic gaits. Especially at liberty, he presented himself with excellent self-carriage in his neck, always uphill with a convincing silhouette.

Ruffian Reef xx only raced three times when an injury ended his promising career. He won once, and was in the money twice for a total GAG of 84.5kg in just these three starts. His Finish owners have sent some of his offspring to us for further training so that while getting to know Ruffian Reef xx, we also got to work with his offspring right away. We are fascinated by his offspring's great characters and their obedient, willing work ethic, paired with good movement and great talent over jumps. We are convinced to have one of the better English TBs in Germany in our barn - a stallion with a clear uphill frame, correct foundation and a type that promises to be a good match for different warmblood mares. We have used Ruffian Reef xx on our own mares and will do so again. What more proof does one need that we firmly believe in the quality of this sire?

The dam
Ruffian Reef's dam sire Darshaan xx was a most successful sire. More than 800 of his offspring were winners on the track and the lifetime earnings of Darshaan xx and his offspring exceed 80M Euro. Similarly, his sire Shirley Heights xx can be called a legend in English TB circles. Interestingly, there is a connection to the Trakehner breed in this pedigree. Shirley Height's dam sire Hardicanute xx is known in the Trakehner population as the sire of the Celle State Stud stallion Neuquen xx. This impressive grey stallion is the foundation of the Saint Cloud - Latimer stallion line, which today is one of the most successful in international dressage competitions (e.g. the recent international Grand Prix dressage competitor Finckenstein TSF (approved)). The same Neuqueen xx line also produced excellent, international event horses (e.g. Newcomer/A. Dibowski, CCI***). Furthermore, Neuquen xx is also dam sire of the late dressage stallion Charly Chaplin and in 2nd generation, the popular US-based Impressionist. Darshaan xx himself only found limited entry into warmblood breeding, usually via daughters that ended up in warmblood breeding programs. From one such program come the two international event horses Easter Sunday (approved stallion, CCI**) and Eskadia (CIC***).

In the 2nd generation of the dam, the French champion sire Pharly xx appears. He had a successful racing career and then became also a very important sire. He last stood in England, where he had to be put down after a pasture accident at the age of 28. Like Darshaan xx, Pharly xx only had limited impact on warmblood breeding, but again from those few chances, international performance horses arose (e.g. the CCI* competitors Montesquieu xx and Khaleesi xx). Most interestingly, one of the most noted and talented young English TB stallions in Germany is the chestnut Asagao xx (by Tertullian xx o/o Ariostea xx by Tagel xx - Pharly xx). Asagao xx qualified for the Bundeschampionat of the German event horse in 2014 after an incredible competition season in young show jumper and event horse classes. The stallion has subsequently been approved by all major German warmblood stud books.

Pharly's sire Lyphard xx was bred in the US, but came to England as a yearling and had significant impact on European breeding. After a career that brought him to the UK, Ireland and France, he returned to the US where he reached the bliblical age of 36. Lyphard xx sired a total of 115 Group I winners, his daughters in turn contributed 206 Group I winners. Like very few others, Lyphard xx stood for the attriubutes we all hope to get from English TB in our breeding programs: Soundness, stamina, and willingness to work.

The sire
Singspiel xx was one of the most successful racehorses of all times, a true legend in the international world of racing. He won, among others, the Canadian International Stakes, and the biggest purse any race has to offer, the Japan Cup. Singspiel xx also took home 1st places in the Dubai World Cup and the Coronation Cup. He sired over 300 winners on the track. His sire In the Wings xx was equally successful as a race horse, and what means more to us, had several sons and daughters that contributed to the warmblood breeds. His line contributed the warmblood-approved stallions Armand xx (Holstein) and Fiepes Winged xx (Saxony, Trakehner) as well as the good Mamool xx. The Trakehner, Holstein and Hanoverian-approved Kiton xx is out of an In the Wings xx dam and one of the most successful Danish race horses, Fly Society xx is also out of an In the Wings xx dam. Fly Society xx was proclaimed as Champion stallion at the Danish Trakehner approvals and already has a number of Trakehner foals on the ground. From his first crop, he had the auction highlight Calispera (out of Pr.St. Coco Chanel by E.H. Manrico) as well as a champion foal in Holstein. Singspiel's dam Glorious Song xx was a formidable race horse in her own right and won the Eclipse Memorial. She was introduced into the Canadian Hall of Fame.

The 2nd sire Saddler's Wells xx is without a doubt one of the all time great sires of the English TB world. However, his name also appears in the classic equestrian disciplines. His son Peking Opera xx produced several good riding horses and daughters in the Trakehner breed, e.g. Athene KR with success at 1.35m show jumping and CIC* eventing. In fact, the name Saddler's Wells xx appears quite regularly in the context of eventing. Fine Merveille, a French grand daughter, successfully competed through CCI***. She was a member of the French National team at World and European Championships and also competed for France at the 2004 Olympics in Athens (Team gold medal). The former Celle State Stud stallion Water Dance xx was also a Saddler's Wells xx grand son and competed at the CCI*** level with German team rider Andreas Osthold.
